And no, it’s not bloody cortisol
Somewhere in your 40s, things started to go rogue
Suddenly you’re dealing with:
→ cravings that feel like you’re never quite hitting the spot
→ 3am sweaty wake-ups
→ brain fog that means your keys could be anywhere, the egg carton, the bathroom cabinet, the dog bowl
→ and an ever-tightening waist band, no matter what you eat
And naturally, we file the whole fcking lot under:
PERIMENOPAUSE.
And the really annoying bit?
You’re not exactly living on Monster Munch and Chardonnay.
You’re eating pretty bloody well.
You’ve probably increased protein.
You’re getting your steps in.
You’ve cut back on booze because two glasses now feels like you’ve been tranquilised.
So why does your body seem LESS fcking happy to co-operate?
Because while everyone’s talking about oestrogen, progesterone & probably poor old cortisol
There’s another hormone sitting at the table.
INSULIN.
And when oestrogen starts packing it’s bags for its somewhat chaotic exit, our insulin sensitivity decreases.
Which means the insulin- glucose dance, starts looking a little clunky
Imagine insulin knocking on the door of your cells, like a door-to-door salesman but offering something pretty useful (glucose)
Your cells used to answer pretty quickly.
Now they’re basically sitting inside pretending they’re not home (like my parents on Halloween)
So your body sends more salesmen (insulin) to keep blood glucose under control.
And this roller coaster of blood sugar and high insulin means we step into our storage era (snacky, chaotic and waking up at the ass-crack of dawn)
That’s the insulin-resistance bit nobody bloody explained.
So surely the answer is just. eat fewer carbs, less sugar, go keto?
Naaaaaah
There’s more stealth factors at play than just ‘eating sugar’.
These guys all play a role: sleep • stress • muscle • movement • meal timing • what you pair foods with • hormonal changes • healthy gut microbes • detox
Another generic “blood sugar balancing” diet misses the bloody point.
The real question is:
What’s driving YOUR insulin and blood sugar patterns?
And which levers actually matter for YOU?
Because once you can get a handle on your own metabolic patterns...
You can stop guessing and start working on the root cause.
THIS is exactly why I created SWEET SPOT
The practical blueprint that connects the dots between your symptoms, hormones, food, gut, liver, stress, supplements, blood tests and genetics...
So you can stop guessing and find the levers that matter for YOU.
